Telford and Wrekin Council is hoping to entice the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to site its new Logistics Centre of Excellence within the borough – amid talks defence chiefs intend to wholly outsource military equipment provision to the private sector in a world first.

The authority has written to ministers making the case for the next Logistics Centre and related Defence Gateway to be relocated to a plot next to the current MoD Donnington site.
