Council chiefs need to make radical changes to their websites to ensure they meet the demands of digital delivery according to a new report from IT directors' association Socitm which warns that over half of all websites 'are not up to the job.'

Better connected 2012, a briefing for the top management team says the council's website has become critical to its ability to deliver services effectively at lower cost. As a result, the role and performance of the council website has become an issue for the top team.
