Newham LBC has defended its decision to invest £52m in the transformation of the Olympic Stadium, after it emerged last week that it will not be repaid £40m of the loan.

An investigation into the transformation of the Olympic Stadium conducted by the Mayor of London, which sought to explain why the project cost £133m more than estimated, found last week that no proper analysis was carried out by the previous mayor.
