Dacorum BC has started retraining workers to drive waste lorry in a bid to tackle a national shortage of qualified drivers and the impact of the pandemic.

Dacorum BC has started retraining workers to drive waste lorry in a bid to tackle a national shortage of qualified drivers and the impact of the pandemic.

A spokesperson for the authority said: ‘Dacorum Borough Council has recently trained four operatives up to LGV standard. All LGV drivers are being utilised on statutory services such as waste collection.‘In the longer term, we have identified an additional number of staff to commence training, but it can take several months to achieve the qualification.'
