The leader of a flooding-hit West Yorkshire council has blamed a media-attention divide between north and south for a lack of help from the Government.

The leader of a flooding-hit West Yorkshire council has blamed a media-attention divide between north and south for a lack of help from the Government.

Cllr Tim Swift, leader of Calderdale MBC, where recent unprecedented flooding lifted canal boats onto dry land and sank other vessels, claimed the Government had delivered more financial help to the south of England after floods in 2013 than to Calderdale after bad weather the year before.
