The Government has ruled out picking up £89,000 legal fees for Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson who went to an industrial tribunal after being sacked from his job at a school in nearby Crosby.

The Government has ruled out picking up £89,000 legal fees for Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson who went to an industrial tribunal after being sacked from his job at a school in nearby Crosby.

He claims he was ‘sacked for being mayor' due to a loophole in legislation which protects councillors carrying out public service but does not cover elected mayors.
