Council plans wages cut in bid to save jobs

Walsall MBC has proposed cutting pay for all its staff by 2% as part of a range of measures designed to save the local authority £3.7m a year.

Walsall MBC has proposed cutting pay for all its staff by 2% as part of a range of measures designed to save the local authority £3.7m a year.

The council's portfolio holder for personnel, Cllr Oliver Bennett, said: ‘The choices we are asking everyone to help us make could potentially mean saving around 150 jobs and while the money is a significant factor, this is the real story.
