The council with the second highest number of households living in temporary accommodation in England has saved £2.5m in three years by housing them through its own company.

Housing Gateway Limited (HGL) was launched by Enfield LBC in March 2014 to buy and manage properties in the private rented sector to accommodate homeless residents.
