Town hall twitter tsars could benefit from an online guide aimed at helping councils deliver social media strategies.

Entitled Digital Councils, the web-based resource launched by the Local Government Association and Comms2oint0 includes tips on how to make best use Twitter and other social networks to engage with residents.

The service will be continuously updated to reflect current work and include case studies so councils can learn from best practice.

Cllr David Sparks, chairman of the Local Government Association, said: ‘Many councils have already got to grips with social media and are using it to communicate with their residents about things like bin collections, weather warnings and road closures.
