Council spending shows drop of 1.1% last year

DCLG estimated statistics shows a small drop in local government spending last year.

Local government spending in England showed a small drop last year over the previous 12 months according to latest DCLG estimated statistics.

Real-terms spending based on 2010/11 market prices showed a decrease of 1.1% in English councils' spend in 2010/11 compared to the previous year, 2009/10, down from £122.6 billion to £121.2 billion.
