Council tax to be mostly spent on social care

Nearly 60% of council tax will have to be spent on adult social care and children’s services from next year, leaving little for other core services, according to new research.

Nearly 60% of council tax will have to be spent on adult social care and children's services from 2019/20, leaving little for other core services, according to new research.

The statistics, published by the Local Government Association (LGA) today, showed that 56p from every £1 of council tax will be spent on social care from April 2019 - up from 41p in 2010/11.
