Council officers have been urged to involve councillors in the ‘dry' subject of internal audit. Calls were made after Babergh DC was criticised for not having a formal budget monitoring process in 2013/14.

An audit of Babergh, which has merged some services with Mid Suffolk DC, reported the matter as a ‘significant deficiency' and called for a ‘formal and robust' process to be reinstated.
