Councillors admit social care services have been cut

British Red Cross survey shows nearly two thirds of councillors admit their local authority has cut funding for preventative social care.

Nearly two thirds (64%) of councillors have admitted their local authority has cut or frozen funding for preventative and low-level social care, according to a survey by the British Red Cross.

The poll, which was conducted by ComRes on behalf of the charity, also revealed more than three quarters (76%) of councillors whose local authority has cut services were worried about the impact on the elderly and vulnerable.
