Councils acting 'more robustly' over penalty charge notices

The number of penalty charge notices (PCN) referred to enforcement agencies jumped by two-thirds this year, the trade body representing bailiff firms has said.

The number of penalty charge notices (PCN) referred to enforcement agencies jumped by two-thirds this year, the trade body representing bailiff firms has said.

Around four million PCNs were referred to enforcement agencies in 2023-24, up by 67% from 2.4 million the previous year, 1.9 million in 2019-20 and 1.3 million in 2017-18.
