Councils given month to bid for lower loans

Council finance chiefs have one month to submit bids for discounted borrowing from the Public Works Loan Board, the Treasury has confirmed.

Council finance chiefs have one month to submit bids for discounted borrowing from the Public Works Loan Board (PWLB), the Treasury has confirmed.

Chancellor George Osborne first announced in March's Budget that authorities would be allowed to borrow from the PWLB at advantageous rates – 20 basis points (0.2%) lower than previously.
