Councils 'deeply concerned' about support fund cut

Nearly six in 10 councils will be unable to fund any additional local welfare assistance when the Household Support Fund ends next month, a survey by the Labour-led Local Government Association (LGA) has found.

Nearly six in 10 councils will be unable to fund any additional local welfare assistance when the Household Support Fund ends next month, a survey by the Labour-led Local Government Association (LGA) has found.

The LGA said councils were ‘deeply concerned' that the extra cash for people struggling to pay for essentials would be cut just ahead of rising winter demand.
