Councils demand nuclear profits

Three Somerset-based councils are demanding a share of the profits from two nuclear reactors planned for the area.

Three Somerset-based councils are demanding a share of the profits from two nuclear reactors planned for the area.

The authorities said the money could be put towards community projects and compensation for residents in and around Hinkley Point, on the county's west coast, where the energy company EDF plans to build the £10bn reactors - pending permission from the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC).
