Councils deny 'back-door merger' claims

Wolverhampton City Council and Telford & Wrekin Council have rubbished claims by MP Mark Pritchard that they are planning a ‘back-door’ merger.

Wolverhampton City Council and Telford & Wrekin Council have rubbished claims by MP Mark Pritchard that they are planning a ‘back-door' merger.

Speaking last week in the House of Commons, the Wrekin MP told deputy prime minister Nick Clegg ‘a back-door deal' between Telford & Wrekin Council and Wolverhampton City Council to merge ‘is currently being done'.
