Councils 'must do more' to drive social mobility

The chief executive of the charity 4Children has called on councils to 'redouble' their efforts to improve social mobility.

Speaking after the publication last week of a new report on mobility and child poverty by former health secretary, Alan Milburn , charity head Anne Longfield said councils and Whitehall departments should do more to help young people from poorer backgrounds obtain better qualifications and jobs.
