Councils across the country look set to go head-to-head, backing rival bids as the battle over the proposed HS2 college intensifies.

Speaking in the House of Commons on 8 May, transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin said a ‘number of people are making bids' for the planned HS2 skills academy', including Coventry, Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
