Councils still failing to protect children, warns watchdog

More than half of local authorities inspected last year were not found to be providing a good enough social care services, Ofsted has warned.

More than half of local authorities inspected last year were not found to be providing a good enough children's social care services, Ofsted has warned.

In a report published today, the watchdog said of the 43 local authorities inspected last year, seven were judged to be inadequate and 26 required improvement.

Just 10 areas were judged to be providing a good standard of care and protection for children and young people.
