Councils want freedom to set Right to Buy discounts

The next government should give councils greater flexibility to set discounts under the Right to Buy scheme, council and housing chiefs have advised.

The next government should give councils greater flexibility to set discounts under the Right to Buy scheme, council and housing chiefs have advised.

This recommendations follows the findings of a joint survey that revealed nearly three-quarters of councils felt they could only replace half or fewer of the homes they have sold through the current system and 12% could not replace any at all.
