Social workers have launched a fierce attack on the Government's response to the refugee crisis, accusing it of using ‘negative and dehumanising language' and calling on people to take to the streets in protest.

Speaking at the International Federation of Social Workers' European Conference in Edinburgh, Bridget Robb, chief executive of the British Association of Social Workers said her members had been ‘horrified' by the Government's response.
