The Government has thrown its support behind historic CLG plans to help councils meet the cost of backdated equal pay claims.

Local government minister, Bob Neill, announced a new round of ‘capitalisation' agreements last week, under which 21 councils will be permitted to borrow against, or sell assets up to a combined value of £250m to help them meet the cost of lingering equal pay claims.
