Most councils are failing to secure the financial benefits from shifting services online due to inadequate websites, information management experts have claimed.

Out of 433 local authority websites reviewed in the Society for IT Management's (Socitm's) latest annual survey, a mere 13% reached proper standards for navigation and usability – making it difficult for residents to find information and services.
