Local authorities are failing to use shared services to drive cost savings and efficiency gains, research issued today claims.

Local authorities are failing to use shared services to drive cost savings and efficiency gains with only 27% sharing back office HR and finance functions, research issued today claims.

Findings from a survey of 100 local authority department heads showed, however, that 44% of councils are planning to share back office operations over the next twelve months.
