Councils are unlikely to be able to meet a new obligation to reach out to people experiencing isolation due to funding cuts, a charity has predicted.

Director of policy at older people's charity Independent Age, Simon Bottery, said it issued the warning after the new obligation was introduced as part of the Care Act, which came into force last week.
