Councils plan to launch more housing companies

Nearly seven out of 10 councils already have or are thinking about launching a housing company either on their own or in partnership, a survey has found.

Kate Henderson, chief executive of the Town and Country Planning Association, which conducted the research said: ‘The incoming government must make tackling the housing crisis as a priority.'

The report called on a new government to define affordable homes based on a measure of income and criticised existing proposals.
