Councils are unclear how much money they will be forced to spend from their own budgets on the Syrian refugee resettlement programme, auditors have found.

A report from the National Audit Office (NAO) said local authorities reported it was ‘too early to say' whether the £20,520 of government funding provided to councils for each refugee would cover costs over the five year scheme once funding declined after the first 12 months.
