Councils need to come up Trumps on building trust

While British local government hasn’t reached the depths of the Trump administration when it comes to farce, the sector does need to build trust, to communicate and to engage the public more effectively, writes Heather Jameson.

Recent events at the White House are enough to make The Thick of It look more a documentary on professionalism in government than satire. The ten-day tenure of press secretary Anthony Scaramucci is a testimony to an administration in crisis that is rapidly losing credibility on the international stage.

While all organisations have their pockets of incompetence, president Trump's White House has now hit new levels of prolonged problems and in-fighting – it will have a long way to go to rebuild trust with the public.
