Councils should be pressured into selling or letting homes at discounted rates to help reclaim Britain's one million empty properties and support families in need, charities have said.

The charity Empty Homes, supported by Shelter, have launched an awareness campaign running throughout National Empty Homes Week, which started this Monday, calling on the Government to take action jointly with councils.
