Town hall chiefs have hit out at government plans to cut education budgets by 20%.

In a joint response to a Department for Education (DfE) consultation, the Local Government Association (LGA) and Solace claimed that cuts to the education services grant, which is paid per pupil to councils, would put further pressure on local authorities.
