Out-of-court settlement in sex discrimination case

A former housing director dismissed from Stoke-on-Trent City Council while receiving treatment for breast cancer has agreed an out-of-court settlement with the authority.

A former housing director dismissed from Stoke-on-Trent City Council while receiving treatment for breast cancer has agreed an out-of-court settlement with the authority, after suing for both libel and sex discrimination.

Jeanette McGarry, Stoke's former director of housing, environment and neighbourhood services had received notification of her dismissal the day she returned from surgery in 2010.
