The Covid Inquiry needs a local voice

Henry Bermingham calls for the Covid Inquiry to consider giving a greater voice to local government leaders and says stronger regional involvement remains a notable gap in the investigation

Once you passed the inevitably hyperbolic media headlines, the first report from the Covid-19 Inquiry was far less of an attack on political figures than we might have expected.

This is possibly because Lady Hallett, chair of the inquiry, sensibly wanted to avoid a descent into political mudslinging, and instead focus this first report on setting in motion the reforms the new government need to focus on. Therefore, I suspect some criticisms have been saved for future reports.
