CQC chair leaves as talks open on inspections shift

The chairman of the beleaguered Care Quality Commission (CQC), Dame Jo Williams, has resigned as the organisation ponders moving away from annual inspections.

The chairman of the beleaguered Care Quality Commission (CQC), Dame Jo Williams, has resigned as the organisation ponders moving away from annual inspections.

Announcing her resignation last week, she said it was ‘time to step aside and for a new chair to lead the CQC into the next stage' of its development.
