CQC chair steps down to become health minister

The chair of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has stepped down to join the newly-formed Conservative Government as a health minister.

Former North Norfolk MP David Prior has been appointed as parliamentary under secretary of state at the Department of Health and will be made a life peer in the House of Lords so that he can take up the position.
