CQC: poor quality home care occurring 'too often'

Poor quality home care occurring ‘too often’, report from Care Quality Commission finds.

Delivery of high-quality home care services is being hampered by a lack of continuity and poor planning, a review has found.

The Not just a number report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) reveals that while nearly three quarters of the 250 inspected home care services met all five of the national standards, more work needs to be undertaken with commissioners to solve recurring issues and monitor the impact of late visitations.

Key failures encountered by the CQC were: insufficient staff knowledge, inadequate assessment of needs and the uncoordinated deployment of care workers.
