Care watchdogs have today published the first set of ratings of adult social care services under the revamped inspections and ratings system.

Of the first 350 services to be awarded a Care and Quality Commission rating, 245 homes, around 70%, were rated good, 81 as requiring improvement (23%) and 24 (7%) deemed inadequate.

The new inspections regime which launched last October determines whether residents are in receipt of safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led services.
