More than one in ten nursing homes fail to give residents respectful levels of care, while around one in five are understaffed, according to a report by the public health watchdog.

The Care Quality Commission's (CQC) annual State of Care report for 2012 reveals 15% of nursing homes fail to provide respectful care for residents, while 23% of nursing homes and 16% of residential sites are understaffed.
