The hugely successful meanwhile uses implemented at Manchester's Mayfield regeneration scheme have benefitted residents and led to a highly profitable commercial operation, say Peter Hawthorne and Mike Hood.

Barely a day goes by without a mention of levelling-up. And this will likely only intensify as the Government gears up for the next General Election, seeking to promote the work it has successfully completed since 2019 and laying out its plans for the future.

The Government has made it clear that regeneration projects across the UK will lead the charge to breathe life into long-neglected areas of our towns and cities. The hope is that these long-term projects will deliver the jobs and homes that will drive our post-Brexit and post-pandemic economic growth.
