Creating a better evidence base

Lin Hinnigan explores the Youth Justice Board’s latest theory of change tool and how it will benefit the evaluation of an intervention

As pressures on resources continue to increase, it is more important than ever that the Youth Justice Board is able to support partners locally in increasing the evidence base for ‘what works' in stopping young people from offending.

The numbers of first-time entrants to the criminal justice system and numbers of young people in custody continue to fall, but for funding to be maintained for the type of initiatives which have led to these successes, a clear evidence base is essential.
