The local government pension scheme (LGPS) is a ‘national embarrassment' and ‘crisis awaits,' a scathing report published today claims.

In the report by the Centre for Policy Studies (CfPS), the LGPS is described as ‘unsustainable' with a ‘perfect storm' over the next decade caused by the likes of past under-funding, employers opting out of the scheme and ‘destructive demographics'.
