Croydon LBC has launched an independent inquiry into the riots of 8 August, which resulted in millions of pounds worth of damage.

The decision was announced at an extraordinary meeting of the council held on 7 September. It was the first opportunity for the council to debate the issue, despite councillors cancelling holiday in the wake of the unrest.
