A crucial step for Luton's recovery

Luton BC’s capitalisation direction will allow the council to temporarily borrow money to fund services until its commercial revenue recovers, says Cllr Hazel Simmons.

Luton has been both exceptionally and disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is why we welcome the capitalisation direction agreed with the Government.

We've been presenting our case to government for almost a year now and we've said all along that Luton BC is a special case. COVID has had a catastrophic impact on our airport, cutting off a vital revenue stream, both to us and charities across the town.
