Diane Wood looks set to become the new acting chief executive at Cumbria CC, subject to a full council meeting next week.

Councillors will meet on 16 May to vote on the recommendation to appoint Ms Wood, who is currently the local authority's corporate director for resources, to be the new acting chief executive for an initial six-month period, with an option of extending for a further six months.

If the council agrees, the new interim arrangement will take effect from 17 May following the early retirement of outgoing chief executive, Jill Stannard.

The salary for the acting Chief Executive has been frozen at the same rate paid four years ago when there was a similar arrangement put in place.
