Dampening the flames of community tension

Amid the race riots, Gill Kneller explains how East Hampshire DC worked with the community to welcome Afghan refugees safely to their area

While the abhorrent racist riots were spreading across the country in the wake of the Southport stabbings, our local police were asking partners not to do anything that could inflame this. Then I learned that dozens of Afghan families were seeking temporary resettlement in one of our towns. 

These families served with the UK Armed Forces and, as a direct result, they were in danger if they remained in Afghanistan.
