DCLG closes down debate on councillor access to LGPS

The Government has insisted any debate on its decision to exclude councillors from access to the LGPS is ‘now closed’.

The Government has insisted any debate on its decision to exclude councillors from access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is ‘now closed'.

Media reports had suggested the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) was ‘open' to negotiations around allowing senior councillors to remain in the LGPS but a spokesman this week insisted its position had not changed.
