DCLG 'must reinforce relationships with Whitehall'

The former head of the Civil Service has admitted the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) should reinforce relationships with the rest of Whitehall.

The former head of the Civil Service has admitted the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) should reinforce relationships with the rest of Whitehall.

In freshly-published evidence demanded by the Public Accounts Committee's inquiry into the financial sustainability of local authorities, Sir Bob Kerslake, who has led DCLG since November 2010, said strengthening bonds with other departments was ‘fundamental' to understanding services within councils.
