DCLG's new 'clicks and mortar' board sets out digital high street challenge

New high-level advisory board meets to examine how digital technology can help restore the fortunes of moribund high streets.

The Government's new high-level advisory board, set up to examine how digital technology can help restore the fortunes or moribund high streets, met for the first time last week.

Reporting to the Future High Streets Forum, the inaugural Digital High Streets Advisory Board meeting agreed terms of reference for its investigation into how a ‘clicks and mortar' approach to adapting technology could help high streets remain attractive to shoppers despite shifting consumer trends.

As part of its remit, the Board has agreed to create a best practice guide assembling a range of successful technology initiatives and established a range of objectives to help ensure high streets remain commercially viable and locally relevant.
