Essex CC has accepted a financial offer from Harlow DC that will see local street lights turned back on thanks to a council tax hike.

While Harlow agreed to raise council tax by 1.5% in February to help cover the £106,000 annual cost of keeping street illuminations switched on all night, it took until this week for county leaders to green light the deal put forward.
